How does laser hair removal work?

Specific wavelengths of laser light are selectively absorbed by melanin, the dark pigment which surrounds the hair follicle. The laser heats the follicle and disables the follicle at the root, causing the hair to fall out permanently. Elysion-Pro uses the optimal wavelength to deliver high energy ensuring best results.

Is it permanent?

Not all laser or IPL systems offer permanent hair removal but Elysion-Pro, due to its high power and effective cooling technology can remove hair permanently. The hairs treated with Elysion-pro will not grow back. However, any future hormonal changes may result in new growth and require additional treatment in the future.

Is there any aftercare?

Prior to each treatment the hair should be shaved from the surface of the skin at least 12-24 hours prior to your treatment. It will not be possible to undertake treatment unless this is done. After the treatment the hair will appear to still be growing. It is in fact shedding and this process can take up to three weeks but do not be alarmed if you don’t notice this happening, as not everyone does.

Shaving and trimming in the meantime is possible. The hair re-growth should be slowed substantially and may be patchy when it does return. Most clients notice an improvement after 2-3 treatments. The re-growth may then appear to worsen; in fact, the growth cycle has become synchronized, which is highly desirable as subsequent treatments will be even more effective.

WHAT TO AVOID (for 24-48 hours after each treatment):

• Undertake any activity that creates heat – such as exercise, sauna, steam bath, cooking over steaming pans (if the face area is treated)
• Use a swimming pool or Jacuzzi.
• Do not take hot baths / showers.
• Use perfumed lotions, skincare products and makeup.
• Use sunbeds or sunbathe for the complete duration of the treatment course. This is to minimize darkening of the skin (hyperpigmentation).
• Do not have treatments when immune system is low due to stress, excess alcohol/drugs, illness.
• Do not use any method of hair removal except trimming or shaving for the complete duration of the treatment course.
• Do not use Vitamin A or glycolic products for 2 days either side of any treatment. Do not have any chemical peel treatment.

WHAT TO DO AFTER YOUR TREATMENT AND BETWEEN SESSIONS:

• Use only the recommended skincare products (ALOEVERA GEL) during the whole course of your treatments and apply liberally to soothe and rehydrate the skin.
• Do wear loose clothes to avoid friction on the treated area for 48 hours.
• Exfoliate the treated area at least 3 days before your treatment.
• 5-7 days after your hair removal session, we recommend you to begin gently exfoliating your skin.
• Advise the therapist of any changes in medications and your health
• Seek the advice of your GP if you experience any ill effects
• Use sun protection SPF30+ on exposed areas being treated and only use fake tan if it will be completely worn off before your laser treatment (usually 5+ days). Remember that products such as Johnsons Holiday Skin include fake tan.
• Avoid excessive sun exposure on the areas that are being treated 2-3 weeks prior/after your treatment (including sunbed).
